FAQ
Questions about the coffee, the grind, the subscription, or an order that hasn't turned up. If yours isn't answered here, use the form at the bottom of this page or email harveyscoffeesupport@gmail.com — a real person reads it.
What kind of coffee does Harvey's roast?
Single-origin specialty coffee, roasted in small batches in Davis, California, and sold in 12 oz bags. We don't do blends. Origins rotate through the year — right now that's Honduras Reserva Pacavita, Colombia Huila Pitalito, Brazil Guaxupé, and a sugarcane-process decaf from Colombia's Valle del Cauca.
Where do you ship?
Anywhere in the United States. Orders are packed and shipped from Davis, California.
Do I have to buy whole bean, or can you grind it for me?
Either. Every coffee lets you pick your grind at checkout — whole bean, coffee maker (drip), pour over, French press, espresso, Aeropress, or cold brew — and we grind to match before the bag is sealed. If you own a grinder, whole bean will always taste better: coffee starts losing aroma within minutes of being ground.
Which roast level should I choose?
Light roasts keep more of the origin's own character — the fruit, the florals, the brighter acidity. Dark roasts push toward chocolate, toasted nuts and a heavier body, and they're more forgiving if your brewing isn't dialed in. Medium sits between the two, and it's where most people land.
If you're not sure, take the quiz — it matches roast level and grind to how you actually brew.
How does the subscription work?
You pick your roast level, your grind, and how many bags you want per delivery, and we send fresh coffee on the schedule you choose. Every shipment includes a card with tasting notes and the story behind that roast.
Can I skip, change, or cancel my subscription?
Yes, at any time. Every order confirmation email contains a link to manage your subscription — change the frequency, swap the coffee, skip a delivery, or cancel outright from there. No phone call, no waiting on anyone.
What if something's wrong with my order?
Email harveyscoffeesupport@gmail.com and we'll make it right. If a bag arrives damaged, or you get the wrong item, tell us as soon as you notice and we'll sort it out. For returns, get in touch within 30 days of receiving your order.
How long does coffee stay fresh after roasting?
Whole bean coffee is at its best from roughly three days to three weeks after the roast date. Ground coffee has a much shorter window — days, not weeks. Keep the bag sealed at room temperature, away from light and heat. Don't keep it in the fridge; it picks up moisture and food odors.
How much coffee should I use per cup?
Start at 1 gram of coffee to 16 grams of water — about 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 oz cup. If it tastes thin or sour, use more coffee or grind finer. If it tastes harsh or bitter, use less or grind coarser. Change one variable at a time or you'll lose track of what helped.
Do you offer decaf?
Yes. Our decaf is a Colombia Valle del Cauca processed with the sugarcane method, which uses ethyl acetate derived from fermented sugarcane rather than a synthetic solvent. It holds onto more sweetness and body than most decafs — milk chocolate and almond, with vanilla and a touch of citrus.
